China Town Teas

So every so often, when i’m walking around Chinatown , I pop into a local market and peruse their tea selections.

Let me tell you it a hidden treasure that most people neglect to think about when purchasing tea.  Because drinking tea is sort of hard coded into Asian culture (it was first discovered a long time ago in China- read about the history here).  So they have a lot of selections, anything from loose tea, bagged tea, and so on.  And the best part is it’s relatively cheap.

A tin that would normally cost a ton only cost me a measly $2.50!

I ended up getting Lichee Tea and some good ol fashioned Green Tea. So next time you’re in Chinatown USA, make to stop by the local market and pick up some cheap tea.  Have a spot we should check out?  Let us know the best place to check out tea in your area.

some of the best oolong that i had ever experienced was purchased at an oriental market in my hometown in the south.  It was a tie kuan yin made by Ten Fu.  It was pricey, 17 dollars for 50 grammes, but i don’t care now, the experience was priceless.
